Weight is dropping... Researching more toys....

Well this no pop bringing my own lunch thing is starting to pay off.. I am down to 176lbs. Not a huge drop, but I am moving in the right direction.

I have continued with the Wii Fit and EA Active. However I still don't think it is a good cardio workout. They do well at toning, but the cardio is seriously lacking. Maybe it is my overall ability to not continually run in place...

I am seriously leaning towards doing the couch to 5k running program. As soon as the weather breaks a bit, I think I will try the W1D1 (week 1 day 1) workout routine to see how it goes. I really think though I will order an elliptical, as running is just rough on the joints and my knees are already shot.

Being as I want the cardio workout through running or the elliptical, I need me some new running shoes. I have been fitted at a local sports shop, however I think ordering them online I will get them cheaper.

On the lunch front, I have found a couple more goodies...
1. Pear fruit cups ~ I picked the no sugar added. The sugar added was just too sweet. Figured the no sugar was a bit more healthy anyway.
2. Instead of wraps, I have made some bagel sandwiches. A lil variety.
3. dehydrated corn... I kid you not, this is a legit food. I found it in the local Naturally Yours Store (organic, natural food store). I just munch on this during the day. They had some other veggies/fruits, but corn was the only appealing one. I may venture on to others at some point.

I have been researching a lunch bag that would keep my lunch warm till lunch. The microwaves at work are disgusting (I bet they are easily used over 100 times a day.. large company). They are cleaned semi regularly, however they still get excessively gross. I figured hot lunch would open up the door to more variety for lunch....

Still going full steam ahead...

Well I have the Wii Fit plus and the EA Sports Active. I have been toying with the programs on and off. Running in place is just not fun and doesn't seem to be productive. I am toning my muscles though and have noticed that change. I do think both programs are good at getting someone moving, however I am not sure I would rely on them for a complete/full workout. I prefer EA Sports Active as it seems to be making a greater impact. Fit plus just seems like a game to me and it would take forever to burn a sufficient amount of calories.

I have began researching running programs along with various workout items. Right now I am leaning towards the couch to 5k running program (C25K). I am thinking about completing this on an elliptical (reduce impact on my fantastically screwed up knees HA). Need to purchase elliptical..... haha

I am also thinking of getting a heart rate monitor or maybe the Nike Sensor to go with my app on my ipod touch (they have a workout tracker loaded on there). The elliptical would come with a heart rate monitor (while touching the handles), so I may not take this plunge right away. However, the Nike sensor will allow my workout data to be saved and uploaded to my computer (I like to see the change in numbers... I am a nerd.. can't help it). Still pondering these additions....

On the other front... my lunches are slowly getting more and more healthy. I have started to read labels, though am still somewhat ignorant on the effects of this or that as an ingredient. I also need to get a bit more variety, these wraps could get old quick..

Progress has been made!!!

Well it only took me a week and I have kicked the pop habit. After I started replacing it with water, I just didn't seem to want it much more. So on average I am drinking about 6 bottles a day.

On the lunch front, I have managed to bring a lunch every day to work. Since this is still kind of new, most of my lunches have been about the same. I grab breakfast as I walk out the door, pack lunch and two snacks, and do dinner once I am home. I live alone, so healthy cooking for one is a struggle at this point... but I am trying.

Breakfast
1 Mini bagel - Cinnamon is my fav with a dab of cream cheese
2 Cascadian Farms Vanilla Chip chewy Granola Bar
3 Glass of Tropicana 50 OJ - This has less sugar and calories than regular OJ and doesn't give me heartburn like regular OJ

Snacks
1 Shelled Sunflower Seeds - I LOVE sunflower seeds and I can eat these all day long
2 Apple/Grape fresh fruit mix - For convenience Walmart sells these in snack packs
3 Orange
4 Fruit leather - Grape and Cherry are my favorites - Stretch island fruit company is the best. All natural grown up fruit rollup... brings back memories of my childhood

Lunch
1 Wrap - Typically ham/salami/shredded cheese with a lil Miracle Whip. I treat to get whole wheat wraps, lean meats, and low fat cheese to get it as healthy as I can. If I have lettuce available I will use that
2 Flat Earth Veggie Chips - Count out one serving size in a baggy

Dinner seems to be my real struggle. However I have started using more ground turkey as opposed to beef.

So in the next week, I am going to research some workout routines and get my lunches a lil more healthy. I also need dinner to be healthy..... The quest continues...

Starting the New Year off right.....

Well as with most people around the world, I made a New Year's Resolution. I am on the quest to make my "skinny" jeans my "fat" jeans. Most women will know what I am talking about, we all have various jeans/pants in our wardrobe, the "skinny" jeans are for the days when we would conquer the world, we feel great, and are not bloated. Those "fat" jeans well they are for the bloated blah days. So my ultimate quest is to get those everyday "skinny" jeans to be my "fat" jeans. This ought to be a nice lil challenge for me.

This also is part of the fitness program at work. I get an insurance discount when I talk to a "health coach" and actively work on an active lifestyle. I will do anything to save a buck.

I am currently 5'4 and weigh 186 lbs. Soooo unhealthy. A few knee surgeries have slowed me down. However it is time to get back in shape, to get healthy, and to have some fun.

First order of business is to stop drinking pop (or soda for those of you that think that is an unusual word). On average I can easily consume a few cans of Mt Dew or Dr Pepper on any given day. So for a couple weeks, I am going to limit myself to one can a day. Slowly but surely without the need for withdraws, I will get down to no pop.

Next on the list is to start taking my lunch to work. Anything is better than the fast food style cafe food at work. I will start my day with a granola bar and water for breakfast, a small snack, lunch, snack, and then dinner. I am going to try and work in as much fresh fruit as I can. Those fresh vegetables are going to be a tough one though, I HATE veggies..... but baby steps.. I think I will get there...

I think for the time being those two things need to be accomplished before I set out too many other things to do...
